Working working working. haha.
My exam results have really really surprised me in a good way. I performed better than I had expected. I think, many people this semester have really done quite well. Really happy for them too. =)
At this rate, all of us can get a chance to further studies together. yeah.
Blogging for me has taken a step back as we all can see. haha.
my cca's concert is over. I've certainly learnt alot from this cca, in one lies passion, however, with passion comes desire. That desire is something one must look over and control to prevent it from causing unhappiness and causing one to lose friends close to them.
Also, one vital thing which I have learnt is, communication is very important, through not communicating, but suspecting one another, making assumptions as well as not clearing one's doubts with another, is not going to solve problems. But, as a matter of fact, it would make things worse.
Thus, being straight to the point and not creating senseless gossips nor incorrect accusations on people would:
firstly make things clearer to you,
secondly, understand the intention of the other party and
lastly, be able to get feedback from the other party.
Having learnt and gone through many social challenges and issues, i have improved myself since Day 1 when I joined the club. I wish for everyone in the cca to be happy and let the music we all play spread and make people enjoy it. Music is supposed to be something which makes people gather and enjoy so, let it be that way and don't let music be the reason to start off something unnecessary. =)
Best wishes,
Bryant

Who's reading this letter
Where are you and what are you doing now?
For me who's 15 years old
There are seeds of worries I can't tell anyone
If it's a letter addressed to my future self,
Surely I can confide truly to myself
Now, it seems that I'm about to be defeated and cry
For someone who's seemingly about to disappear
Whose words should I believe in?
This one-and-only heart has been broken so many times
In the midst of this pain, I live the present
Dear you,
Thank you
I have something to tell the 15-year-old you
If you continue asking what and where you should be going
You'll be able to see the answer
The rough seas of youth may be tough
But row your boat of dreams on
Towards the shores of tomorrow
Now, please don't be defeated and please don't shed a tear
During these times when you're seemingly about to disappear
Just believe in your own voice
For me as an adult, there are sleepless nights when I'm hurt
But I'm living the bittersweet present
There's meaning to everything in life
So build your dreams without fear
Keep on believing
Seems like I'm about to be defeated and cry
For someone who's seemingly about to disappear
Whose words should I believe in?
Please don't be defeated and please don't shed a tear
During these times when you're seemingly about to disappear
Just believe in your own voice
No matter era we're in
There's no running away from sorrow
So show your smile, and go on living the present
Go on living the present
Dear you,
Who's reading this letter
I wish you happiness...

La La La Keep on beliving

A proposed solution:
1) make time to meet up with person X, if you feel that person X has done something which you might not like and find out the reason why person X did so, rather than jumping to conclusions.

some tips for 2009 to make it a better one than 2008:
1) Be cheerful and SMILE more
2) Think twice before spending your allowance.
3) with the recession that has come to stay, save up your allowance for emergency days!
4) plan your time well
5) Spend more time with your family
6) Be more generous, the art of sharing/giving is a joy. [i only realized this during the last quarter of 2008)
I've been working part-time during the weekends at Little Skool House. The job is pretty interesting however the hours are long. I guess, i will adapt to it soon. I'm saving up money to treat myself! hope i can treat myself during semester holidays! =DD
To my close friends: I might treat you guys too! maybe ice cream = D
Here's how i spent my 31st Dec '08 afternoons, ENJOY!

To Jocelyn, Nikos, Dorothy: Thanks for the sms! Merry Christmas to you guys too! my sms's just could not get through to you guys. Probably because many people are sending too many messages to each other. its overloaded!
To all my sunday school students: Merry Christmas to you all! May you find happiness and share the joy of finding happiness with everyone! May all be well and happy! May we never falter in the teachings and always question 'why' instead of blindly following. See you guys real soon!
To Jin Jin: Thanks for leaving a tag behind! Merry Christmas to you too! Let's all meet up real soon!
To Jing Xiang and Ming Li: Merry Christmas to you guys! Appreciate you all for being there.
To the rest of the people who i have forgotten: MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
anyway, this is a little Buddhist teachings that i want to tell my sunday school students, if you are non-buddhist and don't mind reading it, then please read on!
The Mangala Sutra has stated that: [i'll just point out a few, this really teaches you things in real life experiences]
This is the highest protection."
Not consorting with fools tells you that:
Fools hold wrong views, that is why they do immoral deeds, and neglect to do wholesome deeds.
In the ultimate sense, not to associate with fools means to remain aloof from foolishness. Whenever one meets others, one should focus on and encourage wise conduct, and overlook or discourage foolish conduct.
To Associate with the Wise tells you that:
Unlike fools, the wise are those who observe basic morality carefully. The wise cultivate wholesome deeds such as charity, morality, meditation, reverence, service, learning the Dhamma, etc., and they hold right views. Wise friends restrain us from evil and urge us to do good.
To Honour Those Worthy of Honour tells you that:
People are worthy of honour for many reasons. One should respect those who provide material and spiritual benefits: parents, teachers, employers, monks, public servants, etc. One should also respect those with more refined morality, greater learning, or greater age. Respect may be shown in various ways, by service, homage, etc.
"Living in a civilized land,
having made merit in the past,
directing oneself rightly:
This is the highest protection."
Living in a Suitable Locality tells you that:
To fulfil the three blessings stated above, we need to live in the right place. In some places it is difficult to meet wise and good teachers who can point out the meaning of Dhamma. [in the case for non-buddhist: it could mean good morals and conduct] Someone who meets only fools, must suffer a lot, even if they are wise and good.
Setting Oneself in the Right Course tells you that:
It takes wisdom and patience to build good character. One who fulfils all of the preceding blessings, will be naturally inclined to cultivate virtue, but most people will have to make special efforts to avoid wrong doing and correct their defects. Knowing one’s faults is a good start, but we need great humility, honesty, and patience to correct ourselves.
I won't be stating all of the sutra down, but just snippets here and there. This here, is the second last verse:
"When affected by worldly conditions,
If one’s mind remains unshaken;
Sorrowless, Stainless and secure,
This is the most auspicious sign. "
When Affected by Worldly Conditions, if One’s Mind Remains Unshaken tells you that:
When the highest path has been attained, the Arahant is unaffected by gain and loss, praise and blame, fame and defame, happiness and sorrow.
Here's a Zen Story to help you explain further: A young girl got pregnant, but did not want to reveal the father. When pressed by her parents, she said it was a monk living in the local monastery. The parents scolded the monk, but he just smiled without protesting. When a boy was born, they took him to the monk and left him. The monk devotedly cared for the boy for seven years. When the girl married, she wanted her boy back, so went and took him. The monk smiled and blessed her and the boy, wishing them every happiness. He did not sorrow over the loss of his novice.
Sorrowless tells you this:
An Arahant is completely free from sorrow, grief, and despair. “From affection springs grief, from affection springs fear. If there is no affection, whence grief, whence fear?” (From the Dhammapada, verse 212) A truly mindful meditator can enjoy similar bliss through keen awareness.
To non-buddhist: this could just mean that if you are ATTACHED to something, there will always come an end to the attachment. It's cause and effect. They come as a pair, without a cause, there won't be a effect. Similarly, with no effect, it would not have a cause nor lead to another cause. Thus, without feeling attached to something will free you from sorrow, grief and despair.
To end this whole post off, i wish everyone a merry christmas and a 2009 year!
cheers!

Was JC really better or is Poly better?
Although i have come from a JC and now i'm in a poly. I really still do wonder what things would be like. Oh well... wondering is one thing. The present and what's ahead is what matters at hand.
Drifting back upon my past decisions and thinking whether i regretted have decided really does not matter doesn't it?
Having gone through this far. I shall not say which side is better as both sides have their good and bad points.
So right now! I am making a resolution that shall put aside all my reservations about my past decisions.
I will and WILL put in more effort in the next coming semester as well as the rest of my life in poly. I WILL get into the Director's List again. I WILL get into that Scholarship list.
For my future, not for anyone else. I WILL DO IT. I have been too complacent over those mediocre gpa's. I have been denying myself from my full potential to do even better.
Any obstacles that block me from my goals WILL be easily overcomed!
I believe in myself, i KNOW i can do it!
So people! Have you given some thought into your future?

On Saturday, I caught this movie , " Mama Mia" at Plaza Singapura GV with Aloysius, Jessica, Jing Yi and Kenrick. Jia Hui, Linet and Pei Ling were supposed to come, but i don't really know why they didn't come. haha. anyway, Mama Mia is like a musical. It's a should watch!
For people out there who enjoyed High School Musical 1 and 2 because of their music and not because of the actors and actresses, you would enjoy Mama Mia even more!
The flu bug is still around. Some of my Sunday School friends got sick on the same day as me. Everyone, please take care of yourself! I passed my flu virus so some people in KE as well as my sister. ahh.. The weather has been freaky these few days too. Everyone please drink lots and eat more fruits!
I almost forgot! Today is cousin's outing and also a farewell dinner to Wei Xiang who's going to army soon! We had dinner at Waraku which is in the shopping centre with Clarke Quay Mrt station one. haha. can't remember. its some Central _________ dunnoe what. haha. I had this eggplant curry. Wooah! it tasted good. However, pricey! its okay. For my dear cousin, as he says, once in a while. My cousins were really nice. They said, " Its okay la! we go see the menu, if don't have anything for you to eat, then we just leave the place and decide on somewhere else to eat. " =))
After that, we walked around the perimeter of Singapore River and the sounds of the F1 racing cars were resonating throughout the whole place. After a while, the sounds kinda got irritating.
We then settled for this Dessert Shop called Ricciotti.
Me, Xiang and Jing Ying shared 2 orders of Ice Cream Gelato! haha. its really really good. lets leave the pictures to do the talking. haha.
Some Strawberry thingy with 2 cookies and one waffle chip. Quite nice and refreshing after a long walk.
A close up picture of the same strawberry one.
Oh! haha! this one is chocolatey! Very sinful! But once in a while, its good fuel to energy! haha.
Anyway, thats all the pictures i have of today. i'll update more! haha.

P.S: its shorter than me. =DDD
Photo of xin ying, me and mingli at the marina barrage.
To end it off, this is KE. made from candles. they were done up by justina and yan zong i think...
thats all for now!
i guess you guys figured why i got so much time to post up so many pictures. haha. yeah. i was too bored. nothing to do. so i decided to put sometime to blog. blogger screwed me up twice. and i had to redo all again. haha

人之初
性本善
性相近
习相远
Han Yu Pin Yin:
ren zhi chu
xing ben shan
xing xiang jin
xi xiang yuan
Translation:
Everyone single one of us who are born, right from the start when we were born, we were all compassionate being and inclined towards doing good. Everyone had almost the same level of compassion and good natured-ness.
However, as we grow up and become more old and mature, our learning environments change. Some of us strive hard for the best while some do not seize the opportunity and just become worse each day. Thus, the initial stage where everyone's state of good natured-ness and compassion has spilt apart and so have all our common good natured-ness and compassion which has slowly spilt apart.
yup. thats it for now. i just thought that i would like to share this bit of information. it really makes sense and sets oneself into self reflection.
